The $499,000 Carrot…It appears Marijuana smugglers have found a new way to ship their goods: Vegetables. U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents in Pharr, Texas, seized nearly 2,500 pounds of “alleged marijuana” on Sunday. The drugs, which are reportedly worth an estimated $499,000, were found stuffed into thousands of “carrot-shaped packages.” The fake carrots were found hidden away among shipments of real, fresh carrots from Mexico. Enforcement agents claim they found the drugs after referring the tractor-trailer carrying the shipment for an imaging scan, which then prompted a more thorough inspection with drug-sniffing dogs. |
