From Harvard To the Billboard Charts

Recording artist and chart-topping music producer Ryan Leslie talks to the Wall Street Journal’s Lee Hawkins about his journey from a 15-year-old Harvard freshman who scored a perfect 1600 score on the SAT to become a major record producer and now one of the top independent recording artists in the music world. Leslie, who has toured across Europe and Asia recently, breaks down his business strategy for Hawkins and talks about his transition into rap music and his forthcoming album, “Black Mozart.” Leslie and Hawkins also discuss stigma of a Harvard education, the music festival circuit and urban artists such as Usher, Trey Songz, Miguel and Frank Ocean.
