Hip-Hops New Super Producer

Hip-Hops New Super Producer

Meet the man responsible for Kendrick’s “Money Trees” and Drake’s “Worst behaviour”. The name DJ Dahi may not ring bells like Mike WiLL Made It or DJ Mustard, but with credits on blockbuster albums like good kid, m.A.A.d city and Nothing Was the Same, the L.A.-born beatmaker is well on his way to the top. In fact, he was recently recording with Madonna out in NYC, where director Lorenzo de Guia caught up with Dahi to shoot this mini-documentary on one of the hottest new producers in the game.

Dahi begins by sharing his biggest inspirations (an airtight list that includes J Dilla, Kanye West, Dr. Dre, Timbaland and Pharrell) before walking us through his biggest hits: Kendrick Lamar’s “Money Trees” and Drake’s “Worst Behavior.” Sharing his views on the music industry as a whole, Dahi also talks about how artists like Chief Keef and Nicki Minaj are simply a reflection of the world around them, and why rap producers get unfairly boxed in.
